Dan Gregory is a Cape Town producer and multi-instrumentalist working across lo-fi and ambient music. His sound draws from South African jazz and the rhythms of home, the downtempo lineage of Thievery Corporation and Air, and the loose, soulful beatmaking of J Dilla and Madlib. It's laid-back and richly textured, built from analogue synths, rubbery bass, organic percussion, horns and silky guitar, with subtle dub touches running through his instrumental grooves. Alongside the beats sits a quieter singer-songwriter thread, where the same palette carries full songs as naturally as it does instrumentals.
